The Sanfermines are a week of fiestas in Pamplona, the capital of Navarre, made famous by Ernest Hemingway. From the 7th of July, the feast of San Fermín, crowds of mainly young people take to the streets drinking, singing and dancing. Early in the morning bulls are released along the narrow streets leading to the bullring, and people risk serious injury by running out in front of them, a custom which is also typical of many Spanish villages.
